Sonia Martin, owner of La Belle-The Beauty Boutique is sponsoring the ‘Young Women Award’ at the Woman of the Year Awards. Sonia was just 22 years old when she achieved her dream of opening her own beauty salon. Local Worthing resident and beauty therapist Sonia Martin who attended Davison High School always knew from a young age that she wanted to be a beauty therapist and that she wanted to open her own salon. After completing a BTEC National Diploma Course at Chichester College Sonia went onto working in some of the most prestigious beauty salons in Brighton and then eventually started her own business by converting her parent’s garage into a beauty salon. Sonia built a reputation of excellence in her field and soon found that she had enough clients to open her own premises and La Belle opened in August 2010.Sonia says ‘It took a lot of hard work and determination to open my salon, I had a lot of knocks and days when everything seemed to be going wrong but I never gave up, opening La Belle has been the best thing I have ever done’.
Sonia recently was very honoured to have won an award for ‘Young Business Person’ at the Adur and Worthing Business awards and says she wants to inspire other young people to start businesses.
La Belle has now been established for over two years and the salon is going from Strength to Strength. Sonia says ‘ I feel very proud to be able to sponsor the young women award category and to be able to give a young women recognition for all that she has achieved in such as short amount of time.’
