Sending you all a big G’day from Down Under!

Sending you all a big G’day from Down Under! Following on from my blabbering mess of a video message, the Hinds family have settled in Melbourne after leaving good Old Blighty behind in July this year.

We have had a very busy 10 months. Firstly moving from Crawley, West Sussex to Chesham, Buckinghamshire and then only 6 months later doing an even bigger move to live in Australia! It’s truly an amazing city and country with so many beautiful sights. I feel so fortunate to be here and experience part of the world I thought I would never get to see.

Back in the UK, I ran my own mobile holistic massage business, AH Holistic Therapy, which I started back in August 2010. It’s very daunting setting up your own business for the first time as well as being very lonely, but since becoming a MNC member, my business really took off whilst meeting so many great people at the same time, sharing and supporting each other in their own business ventures.  It’s even more daunting wanting to set up a business in a completely different country where you don’t know anyone! Now that I am feeling more settled and starting to get a new local network of friends, I feel ready to start a new challenge. With my daughter starting school in February next year, now is the time to start getting the ball rolling especially with Christmas just around the corner.

I’ve been thinking about what I really want to achieve and decided doing the same business as I did back in the UK is not practical for me at this moment in time. I still want something where I’m the boss and have the flexibility around family life. I’ve decided to join The Body Shop at Home team here in Australia. The Body Shop is no stranger to me as I started my working career at their Gatwick Airport North Terminal store when I left school in 1995. It’s a company with whom I continue to share their values and ethics with. Back in 1998, I had the pleasure in meeting the late Dame Anita Roddick, who I consider as being one of the great female entrepreneurs and so glad that her legacy and values continue on to this day. I’ve been to a Body Shop At Home party in the UK so I know they are a lot of fun!

Thank you to Sara and Nicky for asking me to share my news with you in celebration of Global Entrepreneurs Week. And to all my friends at Mumpreneurs Networking Club back in the UK, have a fantastic week and keep living your dreams!

Best wishes, Abi Hinds
